How we collect, normalize, and maintain carbon market data
Data Normalization
We ingest raw registry data daily and normalize it into a unified schema. Field names, data types, and categorizations are standardized across all registries to enable consistent querying and analysis.
Entity Matching
Buyer names from retirement records are matched and deduplicated to build company profiles. This process uses fuzzy matching and manual review. Some buyers may be unattributed or incorrectly matched.
Known Gaps
Not all registries provide complete data. Some project fields may be missing. Historical data before registry digitization may be incomplete. We document gaps and work to fill them over time.
Data Provenance
Every record includes its source registry, ingestion date, and last-updated timestamp. When you see data in our explorer, you can trace it back to its origin for verification.
