Editorial Policy & AI Disclaimer

Last updated: March 10, 2026

VCM.fyi uses artificial intelligence to generate a significant portion of its content, including project intelligence reports, risk assessments, proponent analyses, country policy summaries, and newsletter articles. These outputs are AI-generated opinions — statements of opinion at a point in time, not statements of fact. Opinions are not facts and therefore cannot be described as being “accurate” or “inaccurate.” All information is provided for informational purposes only and does not constitute investment, financial, or legal advice.

1. Use of Artificial Intelligence

VCM.fyi uses artificial intelligence and automated systems to aggregate data, analyze public sources, and generate market intelligence. Content on the platform — including project intelligence memos, forensic news analysis, risk assessments, proponent risk profiles, country policy summaries, price narratives, and newsletter articles — is produced by AI systems (collectively, “Opinions” as defined in our Terms of Use).

Opinions are, and shall be construed solely as, AI-generated statements of opinion at a certain point in time. They are not statements of current or historical fact. Opinions are the collective output of automated systems, not the professional judgment of certified financial analysts, auditors, or legal professionals. No individual is solely responsible for any Opinion.

While we implement quality controls and editorial review processes, AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. Users should independently verify any information before relying on it for decision-making.

For details on our data sources, analytical methods, and quality standards, see our Methodology page.

2. Known Limitations

We believe in transparency about the limitations of our AI-powered approach. Users should be aware that:

  • Hallucinations — AI models can generate plausible-sounding but factually incorrect information, including misattributing events to the wrong project, confusing project names, or fabricating details that do not exist in any source.
  • Stale Information — Despite date filtering, the AI may occasionally surface older news as if it were current. We continuously improve our filtering mechanisms but cannot guarantee all content reflects the most recent developments.
  • Misattribution — The AI may incorrectly attribute a news event, regulatory change, or controversy to the wrong project, proponent, or country. This is a known risk with AI systems that process large volumes of information.
  • Incomplete Context — AI analysis may lack important context that a human expert would consider. The system scans publicly available sources and may miss developments not widely reported.
  • Price and Market Signals — Any price-related commentary is AI-generated speculation based on public information. It does not reflect actual market prices, transaction data, or professional valuations.
  • No KYC or Counterparty Due Diligence — Proponent risk profiles do not include “know your customer” (KYC), anti-money laundering (AML), or any formal counterparty due diligence checks. Users are solely responsible for conducting such checks on all transaction counterparties.

3. Not Investment, Financial, or Legal Advice

Nothing published by VCM.fyi — on the platform, in newsletters, via the AI research assistant, through the API, or through any other channel — constitutes investment advice, financial advice, legal advice, tax advice, or any other form of professional advice.

The information provided is for general informational and educational purposes only. You should not make any investment, purchasing, or business decision based solely on information obtained through VCM.fyi. Always consult with qualified professionals before making decisions related to carbon credits or carbon markets.

VCM.fyi has not consented to being named an “expert” or any similar designation under any applicable securities, financial services, or regulatory laws.

4. Corrections and Error Reporting

We take the quality of our Opinions seriously and are committed to improving them as quickly as possible. Our correction process:

  • Report Errors — If you identify an error in any VCM.fyi content, please email hi@vcm.fyi with details and, if possible, the correct information with sources.
  • Investigation — We investigate all error reports and verify against original sources.
  • Platform Corrections — Errors on the platform are corrected as soon as verified. Updated intelligence replaces incorrect information in the next pipeline cycle.
  • Newsletter Corrections — For significant errors in published newsletters, we update the web version, publish a correction notice in the next newsletter edition, and, when warranted, send a dedicated correction email to subscribers.
  • Continuous Improvement — Each error report helps us improve our AI prompts, filtering mechanisms, and quality controls to prevent similar errors in the future.

5. Data Sources

VCM.fyi aggregates data from six major carbon credit registries — Verra (VCS), Gold Standard, American Carbon Registry, Climate Action Reserve, Isometric, and Puro.earth — as well as publicly available news, regulatory, and scientific sources. VCM.fyi cannot independently verify or validate all of the information used or made available. Original registry data remains the property of the respective registries.

6. No Endorsement

The mention, analysis, or coverage of any carbon project, project developer, buyer, country, methodology, or registry on VCM.fyi does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or criticism. Our platform provides information and AI-generated Opinions to help users make their own informed decisions.

Risk assessments, value propositions, proponent risk profiles, and other analyses are AI-generated Opinions based on publicly available information. They represent the output of an automated system, not the professional judgment of certified financial analysts, auditors, or legal professionals.

7. Editorial Independence

VCM.fyi operates independently and does not accept payment from carbon project developers, registries, or other market participants in exchange for favorable coverage. Our AI-powered analysis is applied uniformly across all projects in our database.
